planning ahead

Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away (!!!) and I have a project to share with you now... you can utilize some or all of the components and be ready for Turkey Day ahead of schedule. :-)

I used the Welcome Fall Hybrid Kit and Welcome Fall Tags from Marks Paper Company to create a beautiful Thanksgiving table-scape. Everything is coordinated for you, and Stacy has such beautiful colors and designs in this line to choose from.

I used the tags to make a pretty banner across the back of the chair.... simply punch holes and string a length of ribbon through (I used vintage seam binding)....

I accented the glass candle holders with strips of paper that are punched with a scalloped edge....

I made a little wine glass charm by adding a tiny tag and a pretty bead to a length of wire, then twisting the ends into curls....

The napkin holder is made from a strip of paper with the scalloped punch on one side. I added a bead, a tiny tag and a larger tag to a length of wire and twisted the ends again... I also added a green velvet ribbon accent....

The place mat looks complicated, but it is so easy to make. I printed out my design (created in Adobe Illustrator) onto two sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper. I flipped one of the papers 180 degrees and then trimmed the two sheets to match. Finally, I lightly adhered them together along the seam. The stitching is basically for show, and it makes the place mat look like a little quilt! I slipped the place mat under a vinyl tablecloth protector so it won't get gravy or cranberry sauce on it!

I scrapbooked this afternoon!!!!

I did not do a scrapbook layout the whole summer.  :-(  I started the go fly a kite layout at the beginning of August and never got it finished. Until this afternoon. :-)

I used Maya Road butterfly jewels across the top..

 

...and where Sarah is holding the kite string in the picture I poked holes and ran scrapper's floss through...

 

It goes up to hold the title block, like a kite.

I also did this one, called face it.....

 

I used Marks Paper Company papers, an MPCo die-cut tag and butterfly, and a button....

 

I picked up a roll of white masking tape at Dick Blick the other day, and used that as an accent under the photo...

 

Feels good to be scrapbooking again. :-)

I take pictures of my stuff out on the side porch and when I came back in I saw that Ben was with his buddy. He gave her socks. I quick set the layouts down on the kitchen table and turned the camera back on...

 

I came in to the computer and sat down and Sophie slowly walked in the room and looked at me with the saddest face. Mommy, please take these things off me. I had Benny take them off and she came under the computer desk and is squished by my feet where she's safe from any further dress-up adventures.

two fronts

on the creative front.....

In my last post I mentioned that Grandma Schaffer turned 90 and we had a birthday party for her. My gift to her was a family tree made using Marks Paper Company's English Garden line......

 

The focal point of the tree is the two love birds that started the whole thing growing.....

 

I used pop dots to give dimension to parts of the tree....

 

And lots and lots of little leaves to soften the tree....

 

It was fun to make and it is quite amazing, if you think about it, what the love of two people can create! I am blessed to be a part of the Schaffer family. :-)

on the home front.......

BIG NEWS this week for Sarah and Ben. Firsts for both of them. Sarah can now (FINALLY) ride a bike....

 

And Benjamin can now swim....

 

(Will wonders ever cease?!!) I am so proud of both of them! :-)

MPCo. news + holy cute

Marks Paper Company is debuting a new gallery today. You can view and/or add your MPCo. creations here. I have two new layouts using MPCo. papers that I just added....

One of my favorite little phrases comes from artist/scrapbooker Elsie Flannigan..... she says "holy cute". I was at my sister-in-law's house this morning to take some product shots for her and my niece Aubrie was modeling a headband. I think you'll agree that the phrase holy cute fits quite well here....

Soon it will be time to go to the ice cream stand again, but it's a bit breezy and chilly right now in the Northeast. More like hot chocolate weather!

A little project that I worked on and finally got pictures of (click on any picture to see it larger).....

I wrote a few simple thoughts on the roof....

 

 

I had fun making the flowers and shrubbery...

 

A chipboard mini album was included. I adhered photos that showed someone giving a hug, added a MPCo. printable with a simple sentiment, and ran the bead chain through - done!

 

Our home may be filled with laundry piles, dog hair and dirty dishes (LOL!!!) (see previous post), but way above all that, it is most certainly filled with LOVE. You will always be welcomed with a warm smile, and most likely a hug, if you would visit us! :-)

Since I'm known among my family and friends as Paparazzi Patty, they are used to seeing a camera in my hands. In fact, they'd probably put a hand to my forehead to check for a fever if I didn't have my camera!  I literally have thousands of pictures of my kids, nieces and nephews, and other family members. But what about pictures of me? That's something I started to make sure I had over the past year or so. Lots of the pictures of me are self portraits, but I don't mind. Kind of fun to do, actually.

Remember: YOU ARE IMPORTANT, TOO!!!! Get pictures of yourself !

I put together a little project with one picture of me from each month of the year 2008. I gave a simple sentence or two description with each picture, telling what was going on. Very quick and easy to pull together. I used a plastic container from Making Memories foam stamps as the base for the whole project...

 

 

 

I made a 5 x 7 kraft cardstock page for each month, used patterned paper along the edge and a ticket stub on each...

 

I'm also known as Pack-rat Patty (haha, you guys) among my crafty friends because I tend to save things. That's how I ended up with this cute container....

 

I think it's a nice twist on a mini album idea.

 

(It even has a handle!)

she is totally spoiled

Last night I bought a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee and enjoyed some more playing with paper time. I made a layout about our third child, we call her our furry brown child, Sophie.

 

Awwwwwwwwww. Wook how wittle she is!

 

And she is totally spoiled. A soft bean bag chair to snuggle in, lots of hugs and love from us, treats when she's a good doggie and comes back in from doing her outside business. She has it made. :-)
