I scrapbooked this afternoon!!!!

I did not do a scrapbook layout the whole summer.  :-(  I started the go fly a kite layout at the beginning of August and never got it finished. Until this afternoon. :-)

I used Maya Road butterfly jewels across the top..

 

...and where Sarah is holding the kite string in the picture I poked holes and ran scrapper's floss through...

 

It goes up to hold the title block, like a kite.

I also did this one, called face it.....

 

I used Marks Paper Company papers, an MPCo die-cut tag and butterfly, and a button....

 

I picked up a roll of white masking tape at Dick Blick the other day, and used that as an accent under the photo...

 

Feels good to be scrapbooking again. :-)

I take pictures of my stuff out on the side porch and when I came back in I saw that Ben was with his buddy. He gave her socks. I quick set the layouts down on the kitchen table and turned the camera back on...

 

I came in to the computer and sat down and Sophie slowly walked in the room and looked at me with the saddest face. Mommy, please take these things off me. I had Benny take them off and she came under the computer desk and is squished by my feet where she's safe from any further dress-up adventures.

bits and pieces of this and that

I just finished a circle journal entry using new papers from Basic Gray (the Lemonade line) and little bits of this and that that were on my art table waiting for a purpose.

The clear acrylic frame with the inked edges was from a Heidi Swapp clock that I made. The clock hands kept getting hung up on the acrylic frame, so I removed it and added it to the "do something with this stuff" pile...

 

 

The die-cut word 'all' was from another project where I only needed the word below it. So, I cut out the word and saved the 'all', hoping that I could fit it in with some project somewhere. The silver button was from a sweater, I think, and it was so pretty I had to save it. If you look close it is very similar to the earrings that I'm wearing in the photo. The orange ribbon was a scrap....

 

 

Off it goes on Monday, to its final destination!

 

See, it pays to be a pack-rat and save all those bits and pieces of this and that. Right? Right?!

I have a bunch of fun things to share with you, all pertaining to my Earth friendly little logo ......

Like I mentioned in my last post, we celebrated Nana and Pappy's birthdays on Friday night...

 

I made Nana a little tin with recent photos of the grandchildren. It's a Maya Road tin that I reused....

 

I wrapped some pretty Basic Gray paper around the lid and added a die-cut to the top...

 

The inside holds a simple album of photos....

 

 

Just a bunch of 4 x 6 photos glued back-to-back. Simple. But fun...

 

And I added my little logo to the back, since it was a recycled item....

 

Also, I added more of these envelopes created from Pottery Barn catalog pages to my Etsy shop.....

it's that time of year

If you have a vegetable garden, or know anyone that has a vegetable garden, you know what time of year I'm talking about. My family refers to it as hide the zucchini time of year. Zucchini bread, zucchini muffins, grilled zucchini, zucchini pizza, where can you hide the zucchini?, and my favorite - chocolate zucchini cake.

Tonight we are celebrating Nana and Pappy's birthdays (they were born three days apart) and I have the honor of making the cake. Yup, a no-brainer. Chocolate zucchini cake. Especially since it is Pappy's favorite.

I have always loved how when you slice a zucchini the moisture oozes out and makes little beads, it's kind of pretty, and I had to make it my daily detail for today....

A couple of years ago I was in a circle journal group and one of the journals focused on recipes. Since it was this time of year when the journal came to me I shared the recipe for chocolate zucchini cake. I still have the images from my entry...

 

The left page had a pocket that held the recipe and some pictures of the baking process...

 

If you are in need of a recipe for those baseball bat-sized zucchinis in your garden, email me and I'll gladly send you the recipe. Now, what to make with the other five zucchinis in my refrigerator....... :-)

No journaling on this, just the title - but it sure gets the point across!

 

I fell in love with this bead trim at the fabric store and knew I could use it for something......

 

I gave the patterned paper a coat of clear glitter glaze....

 

Those stamp letter stickers are like five years old, and so is the butterfly sticker that I cut apart to use as Sarah's wings.....

MPCo. news + holy cute

Marks Paper Company is debuting a new gallery today. You can view and/or add your MPCo. creations here. I have two new layouts using MPCo. papers that I just added....

One of my favorite little phrases comes from artist/scrapbooker Elsie Flannigan..... she says "holy cute". I was at my sister-in-law's house this morning to take some product shots for her and my niece Aubrie was modeling a headband. I think you'll agree that the phrase holy cute fits quite well here....

just one

Today was my mom's birthday and my family got together to celebrate. She's 63, but when it was time to do the cake she only wanted one candle on it. It's her special day so that's what she got. ;-)

 

I made a new brag book for her since the grandkids grow and change so fast. She has 11 grandkids, number 12 is due in July. An even dozen as she calls it. This was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants project. There was a piece of kraft cardstock sitting on my desk and the new papers from Basic Gray, and I just (yes, Aunt Sue, I did say that - LOL) started putting things together and this is where it led....

 

The little butterfly and beads on the ribbon accent are actually from a hair accessory that I took apart. It is loaded with cute, colorful butterflies and beads and that's why I bought it - to use in projects!

 

The inside is like a flip book, with the pictures back-to-back....

 

 

I sewed the flip pages to the fold of the outside kraft piece of paper....

I added a little sentiment to the inside....

 

And of course I had to do a little somethin' somethin' on the back, as I always do...

good mail day

The FedEx man came up the driveway so I went out to get his package and there was already a package laying in the driveway from the mail carrier. Woohoo!

I bought the Lime Rickey Collection pack from Basic Gray and two punches from McGill....

 

I did a super fast layout with the new papers. This thought has been on my mind a lot lately when I look at my *baby*, Ben: where did you go?

 

He is growing like a weed, stretching taller and thinner every day. I miss his baby cheeks.

Gotta go pick up the kids at the bus stop in a few minutes. I'm going to absorb every detail of his seven year old face, because in a few years I'll be missing that. Isn't that the way it goes? :-)

 

don't paint anything right now

I have been really into hot pink and orange together. I was shopping a few weeks ago and saw this awesome purse and I had to have it (luckily it was on sale!). It's so bright and fresh and fun! I told Todd about my color combo and he told me, "Don't paint anything right now." LOL ;-)

The purse below is mine, and the beautiful hot pink and orange scarf was made by my sister in law, Leann, and will be available in her shop.

 

So, with hot pink and orange as my inspiration, I made a layout.....

Soon it will be time to go to the ice cream stand again, but it's a bit breezy and chilly right now in the Northeast. More like hot chocolate weather!

This is my creative boy, enjoying an ice cream cone last summer....
