Look at these pretty buttons ~
They started off as drab, plain buttons and with some DIY magic they are now fruity and juicy colored buttons!
I have a big bin filled with bags and bags of plain buttons.... lots of grays and not-so-pretty colors. Someone I know picked them up at a yard sale and gave them to me, knowing I love buttons.
I set up shop outside last night to spray paint the buttons and give them a makeover. I have a bunch of bright colors of spray paint - better suiting my taste in colors! Outside is the best place for spray painting. There is plenty of ventilation and no need to worry about over-spray (I do have a patch of rainbow grass today, though!).
I simply placed a sheet of newspaper over a board (for stability on the grass) and then put some buttons out to be *transformed*...
I spray painted a batch of each color and let them dry overnight.
And now I have a fresh supply of fun buttons! Simple to do with beautiful results!
Now I know who to call when I need buttons for a project!!
I am surprised at how well they take spray paint. They look great!

Great idea, I love it ! But is there a risk for the paint to chip after a while ?

Great idea? I'm wondering though if you use the buttons on clothing, how to do they hold up in the washing machine?

They look really good. Do you need to coat them with anything after? I love the flowers too, I might try those out as well!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I ordered a bunch of red buttons from Ebay for a Valentine's project and never got around to doing it. I can easily spray paint them and use them for another project!

I have looked online for 'painting buttons' just thought I'd get a bunch of sites, but I only see yours. Humm, are you and I the only two people that do this? Yours are happy and fun, I painted some to match the color in a tote I made.

I have been looking online for more ideas, your site is the only one I see a demo for it, and not many other sites on the subject. I did some to match a tote I made, your's are so happy and fun.
