Todd and I are so proud of Sarah....
She is our Spelling Bee champion.
Tonight was the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee and our little bumble made it all the way there. She started out by winning the spelling bee among the 5th and 6th grades at her school back in January. She then attended the preliminary regional spelling bee in February where the top spellers from 82 regional schools had to take a 25 word written spelling test. They picked the top 61 spellers from that group and Sarah was among them.
So, tonight was the big night. She was number 51 out of the 61 children. I had my thumb nail chewed down by the time it was her turn. She went out on her first word - knavery - that darn silent k. We will all know how to spell that word for the rest of our life! LOL
The winner of tonight's bee moves on to the national spelling bee in Washington D.C. Children through 8th grade are able to participate, so she has the next two years to try again.
We are proud of how far she made it - it's a great accomplishment! :-)
It IS Spring, right? Then Mother Nature must be getting a nice chuckle because she did this today...
Sure doesn't look like Sping to me. Maybe someone should send her a memo reminding her of the current season. My poor mini daffodils are shivering. :-)
I bought these two pairs of gorgeous earrings from Etsy shops....
On the left are whimsical and colorful polka dot earrings from Chifonie. I fell in love with the hot pink and orange colors (my favorite color combo). Chifonie creates jewelry and accessories using polymer clay, beads, leather and other fun things.
On the right are adorable Bartlett pear dangle earrings from the Etsy shop Polished Two. Tracy incorporates whimsical, vintage-inspired and classical jewelry styles in her shop. These pear earrings are the cutest things ever and I love wearing them.
I love earring eye candy!!! So much fun! :-)
This idea came to me in the middle of the night last night, as a lot of my ideas do! I wonder why that is?
This is a very simple craft project and it requires only a few supplies.... clothes pins (mine are painted white), jute twine, assorted small buttons, a hot glue gun, magnets and tiny branches. The fruit tree trimmings are still laying out in the yard so I just ran outside and picked up a handful. You can snip tiny branches from just about anything, just use the tips so they have a 'finished' top to them.
Here is my midnight epiphany - bitty branches and blossoms clothes pin magnets.....
I cut the branch tips to varying lengths, all under four inches. I wrapped them together, about five per bunch, and tied a knot using jute twine.
Then I used mini glue dots to attach small buttons to the branches. You can do any color schemes you'd like. I kept mine similar on each magnet.
I hot glued my branch bunch onto the clothes pin. When that cooled, I added a magnet to the back.
Easy peasy!!!!!
They would make a cute spring gift for someone - or for yourself! Enjoy!

I went for a walk this morning and the robins and cardinals were singing away. Literally music to my ears. :-)

I have two little nieces that turned three recently. There was a party for Miss Aubrie this past weekend and there will be a party for Miss Lily this coming weekend.

Also recently, we added two new members to our family. I was able to get a picture of only one of them. They are nocturnal and hide very well during the day.
Meet George...
George and his buddy Fred are green tree frogs. (Those of you that are Harry Potter fans will recognize the names Fred and George.)
We have only had them for a few days but they are developing routines already. I turn the overhead light off in their habitat before we go to bed. About 15 minutes later we check in on them with a flash light. Fred is usually sitting down on the heated rock and George likes to hang out up in the leaves. Todd and I got to see Fred eat a cricket the other night and we were amazed at his lightening speed.
Ben and Sarah (and Todd and I!) are enjoying them. :-)

Well, my baby is now nine.
We had a frog theme this year. I put a bunch of his frogs on the table with a note from them (and us!)... hoppy birthday!
I made frog cupcakes (I saw the idea on-line) and they were adorable!!!! We had a pizza party with Ben's friends and the boys at the party would eat one eye and make a cyclops frog. Totally cracked me up.

Hard to believe my baby is now nine. Some things about him at nine....
He loves Legos and builds amazing things with his own creativity.
He loves frogs. We will be setting up his habitat and ordering his tree frogs this week.
He is not much of a reader, so I am pleasantly surprised that he has been reading the second Harry Potter book and is about 1/3 of the way through it.
He prefers brussels sprouts to green beans.
His favorite Nintendo DS game is Lego Harry Potter.
He is a Phillies fan.
He can do the moonwalk.
He is learning the times tables.
He is growing like a weed! His feet are almost as big as mine!
He has the darkest brown eyes - you almost can't see his pupils - and the cutest freckle face I have ever seen.
