I have been tackling one of the items on my list... the de-cluttering. I've been working in my creative area and the progress feels soooo goooooood. I have tons of old magazines and what I like to do before recycling them is take a look through each one and see if there are any inspirational images that I can rip out and put in my inspiration journal. On this trip through I noticed there were so many pretty pictures and I had a *light bulb* moment - why not rip them out, too, and see what I could do with a little creative recycling.
I used the wonderful tutorial by Stephanie Lynn for a guide. I decided to make my recycled paper roses using the pretty pictures that I ripped from the magazines. I did a single layer on these, but I have done the multiple layer roses, as shown in the tutorial, and they are very pretty too.
I made sure to use super colorful images because I wanted a lot of color on my roses, but you could really do any color palette.
They are super easy and fun.... and you can do them while watching your favorite TV show...multi-tasking!
I have several ideas for what I want to do with my paper roses once I get a nice bunch of them made. I can't wait to see the final result! I'll share - promise! :-)
Hello Patty,
Your paper roses look very pretty. I can't wait to see what creative way you use them. I was wondering if you ever did any quilling? It seems to be something you would enjoy and could use in your creative scrapbooks and projects. I haven't quilled in years and years but for some reason your roses reminded of this unique paper art form.
Best,
Karen
P.S. Can't wait until we see our real roses bloom! I am so tired of this SNOW!

Thank you for inspiring my next recycling project; I can teach the kids at my local public library to do something fun, beautiful, and to learn about recycling all at the same time.
