I saw a wreath in Better Homes and Garden's magazine that used STYROFOAMâ„¢ brand foam balls and white yarn to make snowballs. I was instantly smitten!!!!!!!
I picked up some yarn and foam shapes at the craft store and made a cute bowl full of snowballs. The best part - THEY DON'T MELT!!!!!!
I picked yarns that have interesting texture instead of just plain yarn. It makes the snowballs more intriguing, I think. Simply tie the end of the yarn around a small pin, push the pin into the foam ball to anchor it, and then start wrapping in all directions. When the whole ball is covered snip the yarn and tie the loose end around another pin. Push the pin into the ball to end that snowball.
My husband and daughter have both picked up a snowball, held it in their hand while eyeing me, and then thought better of throwing it at me. They are cut from the same cloth, those two! :-)
