Capture the Details

patience

I am babysitting an orchid. The reason being that it is going to bloom while the owners are away and such beauty should not be wasted! ;-)

So, it sits on my dining room table in the hub of our home. We pass by it all the time and we peek through the blossom stems at each other while we are eating. Orchids are very slow to bloom - oh how the anticipation builds! - but their blooms last a very long time once the show is started.

For me, it's just a little reminder to be patient. I am not a 'winter' person and these dark, cold, gray, dull days weigh on me.... I am a 'spring' person. Mr. Orchid is telling me to hang on. Endure. Be patient. Because the wait will be worth it.

Thanks to the inspirational Ali, I have been doing this since 2005.

Just grab a square punch and pick your favorite parts from your pile of Christmas cards! This year I tried adding some photos as well and I like how it turned out. Kids grow so fast and it will be neat to look back and see how they change over the years.

Looking back, I realize that since I got my new digital SLR camera last Christmas I hardly took any self portraits. I need to work on that this year! There were only two pictures of me taken throughout the whole year!

Looking ahead....

Take more self portraits (LOL). I am going to try list making this year... I am envious of those of you that are list makers. I want to feel the satisfaction of a crumbled piece of paper in my hands with things that I have scratched off and accomplished. I want to set goals this year. Something else I've never done.

Of course there's the faithful yearly thoughts about exercising on a regular basis. Although as I get older this is something I really need to embrace. LOL ;-)

There's just something about a new year. The clean slate. A feeling of renewal. Move forward and make the most of each day. :-)
