I am by no means a 'follower' in the truest sense of the word, but I do pay attention to how the Phillies season is going because Todd and most of the men in my family are fans. I was so sad to learn that Harry Kalas, broadcaster for the team since 1971, passed away this afternoon.
His voice is one of my earliest memories. I can close my eyes when I listen to him and go back in time to the 1970's. I remember laying in bed on summer nights when I was about Sarah's age now and hearing his voice come down the hallway from the living room. My dad used to watch the Phillies games on TV. Harry has been 'the voice' of the team for so long it will be strange without him.
Rest in peace, Harry. You will be missed.
A sad day in the Philadelphia area for all of us. I have those same memories of baseball and summer nights like you. When I think of the Phils the first thing that comes to mind is his "Outta here...". He was great and will be missed.
