Snow day!
The kids prayed the other night for a snow day and they were disappointed that they only had a two hour delay the next morning. Sarah realized their error - when they asked God for a snow day they didn't specify which day they wanted. So, He gave them a snow day today, just a couple of days after their initial request. Too cute.
It's deep enough that Sarah and Ben could go out and play in it, so the three of us bundled up and out we went. They wanted to try sledding, so we went back to the barn to get the sleds and found out that Todd has the sleds up in the rafters - no idea how he got them up there - and I couldn't reach them to get them down. I literally flapped my arms like wings and jumped to see if I could fly up there (trying to bring some laughter to their disappointed little faces).
They got out the sand buckets and made piles of snow that to them were volcanoes. Ben spent just about the whole time out there eating the snow.
We walked down the driveway to the mailbox to get the mail and the newspaper. I got the stuff out, and then turned around to start walking back up the hill. There were three sets of footprints, obviously, but it struck me that mine were straight down the middle and Sarah's and Ben's paths were wiggle-waggled all over the place.
It just made me think. Literally, I stood there and the light bulb lit over my head. Look how much fun they have as children - exploring, flopping down to make a quick snow angel, pulling sticks out of the snow to use as snowman arms, whacking the tree branches so the snow falls on top of them - and I walked right down the middle. How boring of me!
Anyway, it just made me think. As big people we should make sure to have fun too. Go play in the snow, big people!!!!!
:-)
I love your snow-eating photo up there Ben! And Sarah you look so snug and warm hiding in your coat and hat there!
Shame on you Patty for walking the straight path - get a little crooked will ya!!
Thanks for sharing these snow photos - we just love them :)
