Say it with me. Thirty-eight. Thirty-eight. I don't have enough fingers!!!!!!!
Today, April 22, 2006, I turned 38. Where does the time go? Sheesh!
I had a party for Sarah this afternoon. Scooby Doo was the theme this year. Three of her friends from school came over and played for a couple of hours. Games were played. Presents were opened... after we found them. The Birthday Ghost (me) took them and hid them and the girls had to follow the clues to find them. That was a hit! "Can you make more clues so we can do it again? Pleeeeease?!!!" Cupcakes were devoured. Chocolate mustaches were worn by all.
So, I am now 38 and in a few days Sarah will turn 7. Time flies. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle and errands and appointments and meetings and just functioning on auto-pilot to get through the day that we miss so much of life. We need to make a conscious effort to just stop. Stop and absorb. Capture the details of our everyday life.
Some details from my day today...
•Todd and the kids blowing up balloons this morning and letting the air squeal out slowly (followed by giggling!).
•The obvious excitment on Sarah's face as her party time grew near.
•Sarah's decorating idea for the last few pieces of streamers (hanging at her doorway so you walk through them to enter her room).
•The delicious lobster tail I had for dinner (Todd and I went out to celebrate my birthday and our 12 year anniversary tomorrow).
•Garlic kisses from the kids (they had pizza for supper at Nana and Pappy's).
•My birthday cupcake and Todd and the kids singing "Happy Birthday" to me.
•The homemade card from Sarah.
I enjoyed my birthday. I am thankful for my family. My health. Here's to 38.
And the next 38.
HAPPY Birthday Patty! Here's to a great 38. Tried to call, but got the machine. I know you had a busy day! I'll call you today. Happy Birthday again! Your SIL.
